When accepting payments from a different country, two main fees apply:
- Cross-Border Fee: Usually an extra 1.50% on top of the base rate.
- Currency Conversion: If the payment requires currency exchange (e.g., GBP to USD), PayPal adds a spread of 3.0% to 4.0% above the wholesale exchange rate.
Tip: To avoid the conversion fee, open a balance in that currency (e.g., a Euro balance) within your PayPal account, or invoice the client in your currency.
